Abstract:
Objective: To compare the clinical effects of Lichtenstein and Rutkow procedures in the treatment of inguinal hernia.
Methods: The data of 111 patients treated with one-side open tension-free herniorrhaphy combined with following up were retrospectively analyzed from June.2013 to Dec.2014.The patients were divided into the Lichtenstein and Rutkow operation group according to the operation pattern. The clinical effects between two groups were compared.
Results: The differences of preoperative general status, complication, hernia type, operation time, postoperative activity and recovery time, scrotal edema, surgical site infection and recurrence between two groups were not statistically significant(
P>0.05).The VAS score of postoperative 3 months and foreign-body sensation in Lichtenstein operation group were lower than those in Rutkow operation group(
P<0.05 and
P<0.01).
Conclusions: The Lichtenstein operation is less cost, light foreign-body sensation and less chronic pain. There were no differences in the recurrence, complication and postoperative recovery between two groups.Lichtenstein procedure can be regarded as the principal choice in the treatment of hernia in primary hospital.
