Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the level of serum high sensitivity C reactive protein(hs-CRP) in schizophrenic, and effect of antipsychotic drugs on the level of hs-CRP.
Methods: The serum levels of hs-CRP in the first onset 106 schizophrenia patients(the first onset group),108 patients treated with antipsychotic drugs(long-term medication group) and 137 healthy people(control group) were detected, the difference of which was compared. The serum levels of hs-CRP in patients treated with individual clozapine and risperidone were analyzed. The scores of the positive and negative syndrome scale(PANSS) in schizophrenia patients was investigated.
Results: The serum level of hs-CRP in long-term medication group was significantly higher than that in control group(
P<0.01),and the serum level of hs-CRP in long-term medication group was higher than that in the first onset group(
P<0.05).The serum level of hs-CRP in clozapine group was significantly higher than that in risperidone group and the first onset group(
P<0.01).The difference of the hs-CRP level between the risperidone group and first onset group was not statistically significant(
P>0.05).The scores of the positive scale and negative scale of PANSS,general pathology scale and total score in schizophrenia patients with hs-CRP>2.066 4 mg/L were significantly higher than those in patients with hs-CRP<2.066 4 mg/L group(
P<0.05 to
P<0.01).Correlation analysis showed the expression of serum hs-CRPwas positively correlated with schizophrenia severity(
P<0.05).
Conclusions: The serum levels of hs-CRP in schizophrenia patients significantly increased, and the clozapine treatment can upregulate the serum level of hs-CRP.The level of hs-CRP is correlated with psychotic state.
