Abstract:
Objective:To detect the level of serum sex hormone binding globulin(SHBG) in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) patients,and investigate the relationships between SHBG and insulin resistance,glucose metabolism.
Methods:The levels of SHBG,fasting plasma glucose(FPG),fasting insulin(FINS),total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) and glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c) in 122 T2DM patients and 80 healthy people detected and analyzed.
Results:The serum SHBG level in T2DM patients was significantly lower than that in healthy people(
P<0.01).The serum SHBG level was negatively associated with the levels of HOMA-IR,HbA1c,TG,FPG and FINS(
r=-0.417,-0.283,-0.305,-0.301,-0.236,
P<0.01),and positively associated with HDL-C level and age(
r=0.342,0.456,
P<0.01).Binary logistic regression analysis showed that SHBG was a protective factor in T2DM(
OR=0.965,95%
CI 0.934 to 0.998,
β=-0.035,
P=0.036).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the SHBG,and HOMA-IR,age and HDL-C were linear regression relation(
β=-0.295,0.313,0.238,
P<0.01,
P<0.01,
P<0.05).
Conclusions:The serum SHBG level decreasing in T2DM patients may be an independent risk factor of T2DM.
