Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the facial
Demodex infection among college students in Bengbu City,and its relevant factors.
Methods: Six hundred and forty-five clinical medicine students from 5 grades of the College were randomly selected.The sample was harvested from the nosewing and forehead of students using improved cellophane tape.The age,living habit,eating habit,skin type and psychology in all students were surveyed using a questionnaire.
Results: The total infection rate of facial
Demodex was 21.78%(132/606).The 82.58% of facial infection was mild(109/132).The difference of the infection rate of
Demodex between boy and girl students was not statistically significant(
P > 0.05).The differences of the infection rate of
Demodex among five grades were statistically significant(
P<0.05).The differences of the infection rate of
Demodex in different ages,eating habits,skin types students were not statistically significant(
P>0.05).The infection rates of
Demodex in the student with good health habit and student from city were significantly lower(
P<0.01).The difference of the infection rate of
Demodex in different sleeping gesture students was statistically significant(
P<0.01).The infection rate of
Demodex in student with facial skin injury was higher than that in student without facial injury(
P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that health habit and facial skin injury were the influencing factors of
Demodex infection(
P<0.01).The 76.40%(463/606) students thought that skin and beauty could affect the self-confidence,social interaction and apply for a job.
Conclusions: The facial infection rate of
Demodex in college student from Bengbu city is lower,and the facial infection of
Demodex is closely related to the health habit and skin injury.During preventing
Demodex,the psychological health of students should be paid attention to.
