Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the distribution characteristics and influence factors of metabolic syndrome(MS) of community population in Bengbu city using the cross-sectional study.
Methods: Two thousand six hundred and eighty-nine adults from three communities selected by the stratified and cluster random sampling in Longzihu District of Bengbu City were investigated using questionnaire and laboratory test. The incidence rates of MS in different ages and genders were analyzed using the criteria of Chinese Diabetes Society of 2004.The effects of the age, sex, smoking, drinking wine, and intake of vegetable and fruis on the morbidity risk of MS were analyzed using binary logistic regression method.
Results: Three hundred and thirty-nine participants were accorded with the criteria of MS,and the prevalence rate of MS was 13.72%(16.24% in male and 11.89% in female). With the increasing of age,the prevalence of MS increased(
P<0.05).The prevalence rates of MS in male were higher than that in female among the population of 30~,40~and 80~year-old(
P<0.05 to
P<0.01),and the difference of the other age population between male and female was not statistically significant(
P>0.05).The multivariate analysis showed that smoking was the risk factor of MS(
P<0.01).The increasing of the intake of fruit and vegetable was the protective factor(
P<0.01).
Conclusions: The prevalence rate of MS of community population in Bengbu city is associated with the age of population, and which increases along with the increasing of age.No smoking and sufficient intake of fruit and vegetable can reduce the prevalence rate of MS.
