Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the curative effects between minocycline hydrochloride ointment and iodine glycerin in the treatment of chronic periodontitis and influence on periodontal parameters, and provide the basis in treating chronic periodontitis.
Methods: A total of 82 teeth in 70 patients with chronic periodontitis were divided into the observation group and control group(41 teeth each group). Two groups were treated with conventional supragingival scaling and subgingival scaling. The observation group and control group were additionally treated with injecting minocycline hydrochloride ointment and iodine glycerin into periodontal pocket, respectively. The periodontal parameter, clinical effect and adverse reaction between two groups were compared after treatment.
Results: Compared before treatment, the periodontal parameters in two groups were significantly improved after treatment, and the improvement of which in observation group was better than that in control group(
P<0.01).The incidence rates of total adverse reaction in observation group and control group were 10.81% and 6.06%,respectively,and the difference of which was not statistically significant(
P>0.05).The total effective rate in observation group(95.12%) was significantly higher than that in control group(73.13%)(
P<0.01).
Conclusions: Both minocycline hydrochloride ointment and iodine glycerin can effectively treat chronic periodontitis, meanwhile the treatment effect of chronic periodontitis with minocycline hydrochloride is more significant. The minocycline hydrochloride can alleviate the inflammation, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
