Abstract:
Objective To investigate the expression levels and clinical significance of metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) and miR-17-5p in peripheral blood of patients with allergic rhinitis.
Methods A total of 125 patients with allergic rhinitis were selected as the observation group and 62 healthy subjects were selected as the control group.Fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the expression levels of MALAT1 and miR-17-5p in peripheral blood of subjects, and ROC curve was applied to evaluate the diagnostic value of serum MALAT1 and miR-17-5p for the occurrence of allergic rhinitis.Spearman correlation was used to analyze the correlation between MALAT1 and miR-17-5p in peripheral blood and the clinical severity of allergic rhinitis, and multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the independent risk factors affecting the severity of allergic rhinitis.
Results The serum level of MALAT1 mRNA of observation group was lower than that of control group, and the serum level of miR-17-5p was higher than that of control group (P < 0.05).ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve of MALAT1 mRNA and miR-17-5p were 0.812 and 0.845 respectively. The sensitivity of MALAT1 mRNA was better than that of miR-17-5p, and the specificity was lower than that of miR-17-5p, when combined detection of MALAT1 mRNA and miR-17-5p resulted in a higher diagnostic value. The serum MALAT1 mRNA level in patients with moderate and severe allergic rhinitis was significantly lower than that in patients with mild allergic rhinitis (P < 0.05), and the serum miR-17-5p level was significantly higher than that in patients with mild allergic rhinitis (P < 0.05).Spearman correlation analysis showed that MALAT1 mRNA level in peripheral blood was negatively correlated with the severity of allergic rhinitis (r=-0.779, P < 0.01), and miR-17-5p level was positively correlated with the severity of allergic rhinitis (r=0.774, P < 0.01).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that low MALAT1 mRNA level and high miR-17-5p level were independent risk factors for the severity of allergic rhinitis (P < 0.05).
Conclusions The expression of MALAT1 mRNA in peripheral blood of patients with allergic rhinitis is low, and miR-17-5p is high. They are closely related to the severity of allergic rhinitis, which are independent risk factors pertaining to its clinical severity.Serum level of MALAT1 mRNA and miR-17-5p may be of diagnostic and severity assessment value in patients with allergic rhinitis.
