Abstract:
Objective To explore the application effect of graded sensory exercise training on preventing falls in elderly hospitalized psychiatric patients.
Methods A total of 35 hospitalized elderly patients in the psychiatric department from September 2022 to April 2023 were selected as the control group, and 35 hospitalized elderly patients in the psychiatric department from June 2023 to February 2024 were selected as the observation group. The control group received routine nursing methods, while the observation group received graded sensory exercise training on the basis of routine nursing. After intervention, the daily living ability, balance ability, mobility ability, frailty score, and fall incidence of patients in the two groups during hospitalization were compared.
Results After 3 weeks of intervention, the daily living ability, balance ability, and mobility ability in the observation group were better than those in the control group (P < 0.01);the frailty score and fall incidence were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.01 and P < 0.05).
Conclusions The application of graded sensory exercise training in elderly hospitalized psychiatric patients can help improve their daily self-care ability, balance ability and mobility ability, alleviate the occurrence of frailty, and further reduce the incidence of falls.
