Abstract:
Objective To investigate the expression of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and connexin 43 (Cx43) in patients with sudden deafness and their correlation with hearing function.
Methods A total of 100 patients with sudden deafness 2019 to were selected as the observation group.According to age and gender, 100 healthy subjects were randomly selected as the control group. The general information was collected, the expression levels of GABA and Cx43 in serum were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Pearson method was used to analyze the correlation of GABA and Cx43 expression, and ROC curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic value of GABA and Cx43 expression levels for sudden deafness.Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the factors affecting hearing function in patients with sudden deafness.
Results Compared with the control group, the expression levels of serum Cx43 and GABA in the serum of the patients in the observation group were decreased (P < 0.01), and the expression levels of Cx43 and GABA in the serum of the patients with abnormal hearing function were lower than those of the patients with normal hearing function (P < 0.01).The expression of GABA in serum of patients with sudden deafness was positively correlated with Cx43 (r=0.472, P < 0.05).The ROC curve results showed that the AUC of serum GABA and Cx43 levels for the diagnosis of sudden deafness was 0.938 and 0.900, respectively, the corresponding sensitivity was 86.00% and 87.00%, and the specificity was 92.00% and 79.00%, respectively, the AUC of the combined diagnosis was 0.963, the sensitivity was 91.00%, and the specificity was 87.00%.Logistic regression analysis showed that GABA and Cx43 were independent influencing factors of hearing function in patients with sudden deafness (P < 0.01).
Conclusions The expression levels of GABA and Cx43 in the serum of patients with sudden deafness are decreased, which are closely related to the hearing function of the patients. The combined detection of the two can be used as biological indicators for the diagnosis of sudden deafness and abnormal hearing function.
