Investigation on pelvic floor training compliance in patients with postpartum stress urinary incontinence and its relationship with family factors and cognition

      Abstract:
Objective  To explore the pelvic floor training compliance in patients with postpartum stress urinary incontinence(SUI), and analyze its relationship with family factors and cognition.
Methods  A total of 144 SUI patients were investigated using the general data questionnaire, pelvic floor muscle exercise compliance questionnaire, family support self-rating scale and SUI cognition questionnaire. The influencing factors of pelvic floor muscle exercise compliance in SUI patients and its correlation with family and cognition were analyzed.
Results  After excluding 2 invalid questionnaires, 142 patients with SUI were finally enrolled in this study. The average score of pelvic floor muscle exercise compliance in postpartum SUI patients was (13.61±3.86) points. The differences of pelvic floor muscle exercise compliance scores among SUI patients with different education level, average monthly family income, delivery mode, family support level and cognitive level were statistically significant(P < 0.05 to P < 0.01).The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that the education level, average monthly family income, family support level and cognition level were the independent influencing factors of compliance of pelvic floor muscle exercise in SUI patients(P < 0.01).The compliance of pelvic floor muscle exercise in SUI patients was positively correlated with the level of family support and cognition(P < 0.01).
Conclusions  The education level, average monthly family income, family support level and cognition level of postpartum SUI patients are the independent influencing factors of pelvic floor muscle exercise compliance, and the exercise compliance is significantly positively correlated with family support level and cognition level.
