Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the psychological adaptation of caregivers of hospitalized patients with gastrointestinal cancer and explore its influencing factors.
Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted on 144 caregivers of hospitalized gastrointestinal cancer patients. The questionnaire included a general information questionnaire,a psychological adaptation scale,a social support assessment scale, and a simplified coping style scale.Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of their psychological adaptation.
Results: The total score of psychological adaptation for 144 caregivers was (61.09±18.41) points. The total score and its various dimensions of psychological adaptation for caregivers were positively correlated with the total score and its various dimensions of social support for caregivers (
P<0.01).The total score of psychological adaptation and its various dimensions were positively correlated with the total score of simplified coping style and the positive coping dimension score of caregivers (
P<0.01),and negatively correlated with the negative coping dimension score (
P<0.01).The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that the level of patient awareness,self-care ability, average monthly income of caregivers, presence or absence of chronic diseases, and their social support status were the influencing factors of psychological adaptation for hospitalized gastrointestinal cancer patients (
P<0.05 to
P<0.01).
Conclusions: The psychological adaptation of caregivers of hospitalized patients with gastrointestinal cancer is at a moderate level.Medical staff should comprehensively consider its related influencing factors and develop targeted intervention measures to further improve the psychological adaptation level of caregivers.
