Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the effects of risperidone combined with lamotrigine on encephalographic frequency and cognitive function in patients with epileptic mental disorders.
Methods: A total of 112 patients with epileptic mental disorders were selected as the research subjects and divided into an observation group and a control group using a random number table method, with 56 cases in each group. The control group was treated with lamotrigine, while the observation group was treated with risperidone combined with lamotrigine. The effect was evaluated after continuous treatment for 3 months. The mental disorder symptoms, encephalographic frequency, cognitive function, and quality of life between the two groups were compared, and the efficacy and adverse reactions in the two groups were evaluated.
Results: The total effective rate in the observation group was 89.29%(150/56),which was higher than that in the control group (75.00%,42/56)(
P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of each dimension and total scores of mental disorder symptoms,as well as the encephalographic frequency θ and δ in the observation group, were significantly lower than those in the control group (
P<0.01),and the scores of cognitive function and quality of life were significantly higher than those in the control group (
P<0.01).During the treatment process, there was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (
P>0.05).
Conclusions: Compared to lamotrigine monotherapy, risperidone combined with lamotrigine in the treatment of mental disorders induced by epilepsy can further improve the symptoms of mental disorders, improve the encephalographic frequency and cognitive function, and improve the quality of life of patients.
