Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the usage and teaching needs of oral cone-beam CT(CBCT) image processing software among oral medical students, and provide a reference for the teaching and training of imaging diagnosis in stomatological colleges and universities.
Methods: A total of 317 dental medical students were selected as the research subjects, and 134 medical students from other majors were collected as the control group. The usage and demand of dental image processing software(taking NNT software as an example) among medical students were collected online by Wenjuanxing, and the influencing factors of the usage frequency of CBCT image processing software among dental medical students were analyzed.
Results: Among the students of stomatology,28.08%(89/317) of the students had used NNT software, and 38.80%(123/317) of the students had used similar software. The differences among dental students of different educational backgrounds in terms of whether they had used NNT software, whether they had used similar CBCT image processing software, frequency of using NNT software, willingness to participate in NNT software training and desired training duration were statistically significant(
P<0.05 to
P<0.01).The differences among dental medical students of different identities in terms of whether they had used NNT software, whether they had used similar CBCT image processing software and main purpose of using NNT software were statistically significant(
P<0.01).The proportion of dental medical students who used NNT software was 28.08%(89/317),which was significantly higher than that of medical students in other majors(4.48%) (6/134)(
P<0.01).
Conclusions: Dental medical students have a relatively high demand for learning oral CBCT image processing software. The stomatology major should offer relevant courses, and make appropriate course adjustments for students of different educational backgrounds and identities to enhance their image processing and analysis capabilities
