Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the nursing strategy of patients after pneumonectomy.
Methods: Twenty-six patients underwent pneumonectomy comprising 24 patients with pulmonary carcinoma,one patient with pulmonary tuberculosis and one with destructed pulmonary function respectively.
Results: Nineteen underwent left pneumonectomy and seven right pneumonectomy.Postoperative hemorrhage occurred in one patient and reoperation was performed.Bronchopleural fistula occurred in one patient,severe arrhythmia in four patients and hypoxia in six patients.Twenty-five recovered completely.Unfortunately,one patient gave up because of arrhythmia companied by hypoxia.
Conclusions: Emphasis on the care of the patient after pneumonectomy will guarantee recovery of these patients.
