Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the effect of -lipoic acid on diabetic neurogenic bladder(DNB).Methods:Thirty-nine patients with DNB were randomly divided into treatment group(n=20) and control group(n=19).Both groups received the common therapy for diabetes, and the treatment group were administered -lipoic acid at the dose of for a 2-week course in addition. The changes of the patients' residual urine volume were compared between the two groups. Results:After 2 weeks of medication, the treatment group and the control group both showed a decreased residual urine volume as compared with that before the treatment(P0.01 and P0.05);the treatment group had a more obviously decreased residual urine volume than the control(P0.01).The total efficacy of the treatment group was significantly better than that of the control group(P=0.00).Conclusions:-lipoic acid can significantly decrease the residual urine volume in patients with DNB and is worthy to be popularized.
