Abstract:
Objective: To explore the value of serum bilirubin level in diagnosis of coronary heart disease(CHD).
Methods: Fifty-two patients with CHD and thirty-six normal controls were divided into two groups.Total bilirubin(TBIL) in serum, total cholesterol(CHO),triglyceride(TG) and high-density lipoproteins (HDL) were measured.
Results: The TBIL in serum in patients with CHD was lower than that in normal controls(P<0.01).The TBTL in CHD group showed negative correlativity with CHO and TG(P<0.01).The TBTL in CHD group showed positive correlativity with HDL(P<0.01).
Conclusions: TBIL in serum could prevent lipid from oxidation and reduce the occurrence of CHD.
