Abstract:
Objective: To explore a surgical method of idiopathic congenital nystagmus with horizontal strabismus.
Methods: Twenty-eight cases suffered from idiopathic congenital nystagmus with horizontal strabismus were applied with the operation correction of neutral zones in the main eye,and horizontal strabismus correction in another eye with posterior fixation suture of the rectus muscles.
Results: Of the 28 cases, visual acuity of all the main eyes was inproved over two lines than before.Compensatory head-posture was disappeared for 26 cases (92.86%).Both eyes look in the front directed no nystagmus or slight nystagmus for 26 cases (92.86%).The binocular vision for some cases were in proved after operation.
Conclusions: The operation correction of neutral zones in the main eye and horizontal strabismus correction in another eye for idiopathic congenital nystagmus with horizontal correction and posterior fixation suture of the rectus muscles could not only improve the visual acuity, but also basically cure the nystagmus looking in the front.
