Abstract:
Objective: To study the expressions and clinical correlations of Ki-67 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in borderline ovarian tumors (BOT),in order to help differential diagnosis from other ovary tumors.
Methods: Immunohistochemistry test (Elivision
TM plus method) was used to detect the expressions of Ki-67 and VEGF in 38 cases with BOT,compared to 30 cases with benign ovarian tumors and 30 cases with epithelial ovarian cancer.
Results: The expressions of Ki-67 and VEGF in BOT,benign ovarian tumors and epithelial ovarian cancer were gradually increased (
P < 0.01). The expression of Ki-67 was increased with the increment of VEGF expression. The expressions of Ki-67 and VEGF did not correlate to pathological type (
P > 0.05). And there was a good unanimity and significant correlation between the expressions of Ki-67 and VEGF.
Conclusions: The over-expressions of Ki-67 and VEGF in ovarian tumors indicated high malignant degree,and these changes may prompt the aggressive behavior. Combined detection with Ki-67 and VEGF may be a valuable marker for prediction of tumor progression and managements of ovarian tumors.
