Abstract:
Objective:To observe the effect of perflutren(C

8) injection and cryosurgery using binocular indirect ophthalmoscope in treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD) with giant retinal tears.
Methods:Twenty-three patients (24 eyes) with RRD received cryosurgery under the binocular indirect ophthalmoscope, and C
3F
8 was injected into the vitreous cavity;scleral compressing, scleral buckling and subretinal fluid releasing were performed accordingly.
Results:Twenty-one eyes had retinal reattachment after one operation, two eyes had retinal reattachment after twice operation, and one eye was performed vitrectomy.
Conclusions:C

8 injection in the vitreous cavity combined with cryosurgery using binocular indirect ophthalmoscope are safe and effective for treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment with giant retinal tears.
