Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the significance of the expression of telomerase in chronic cholecystitis and gallbladder carcinoma.
Methods: The telomerase activity in 22 cases of gallbladder carcinoma and 28 cases of chronic cholecystitis was measured.
Results: The positive expression rate of telomerase in the cases with gallbladder carcinoma was 81.8%,but no positive reaction was detected in the cases with chronic cholecystitis. The difference was significant(
P<0.005).Telomerase activity was not obviously correlated with the differentiation and lymphatic metastasis of gallbladder carcinoma(
P>0.05).
Conclusions: Detecting the activity of telomerase is of reference value for the diagnosis of gallbladder carcinoma.
