Abstract:
Objective: To study the value of neonatal behavioral neurological assessment(NBNA) in the prognosis of high-risk neonates.
Methods: NBNA was carrried out in 54 high-risk neonates 7 to 28 days after birth. The neonates with marks below or equal to 35 were included into the abnormal group, while those with marks above 35 were in the normal group. All the children were followed up to 3 to 6 years of age and China Child Developmental Centre Checklist was used to determine their intellectual and physical development.
Results: The rate of poor prognosis was much higher in the abnormal group than in the normal group during 3 to 6 years after birth(
P<0.005).
Conclusions: The dynamic marking of NBNA is of great value in forecasting the prognosis of high-risk neonates in perinatal period, which may provide basis for early intervention.
