Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the psychological pressure and its manifestation in male nurses, and analyze its reasons and solutions.
Methods: Twenty six male nurses were investigated by means of questionnaires and conversations. The table of mental questionnaires was designed by authors,including general items,personality self-evaluation,self-psychological evaluation, satisfaction of present post and the most urgent needs. The test of 90 symptoms checklist was applied through man-machine dialogue. The conversation was chaired by psychological consultants.
Results: Among 24 effective psychological questionnaires, there were 18 cases showed selfsymptoms. Among 24 cases accepted the test of 90 symptoms checklist,there were 15 cases with total scores > 160,21 cases with single factor scores > 2. Twenty four cases of male nurses had different levels of mental stress during conversation. The sources of mental stress focused on the traditional values,secular prejudice,tension between nurses and patients, work intensity and self-denial.
Conclusions: The mental pressure of male nurses could mainly come from society and mentality,and should get more attentions.
