Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the value of serum creatinine(Scr),blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and serum uric acid(UA) in the evaluation of the renal injury of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM) patients.
Methods: Ninty-nine labor and delivery patients with GDM and 99 normal pregnancy women were divided into the GDM group and control group, respectively. The levels of Scr,BUN and serum UA between two groups were compared.
Results: The UA level in the GDM group was significantly higher than that in the control group(
P<0.01).The differences of the levels of BUN and Ser between two groups were not statistically significant(
P>0.05).The incidence of UA abnormality in GDM group was significantly higher than that in the control group(
P<0.01).
Conclusions: The abnormal increase of serum UA level may be a sensitive indicator of early damage of renal function in GDM.
