Abstract:
Objective To develop a Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) questionnaire on clinical nutrition for medical staff and evaluate its reliability and validity.
Methods The KAP questionnaire on clinical nutrition for medical staff was developed based on the KAP theory and literature review. It was administered to medical staff in tertiary hospitals in a certain province. Methods such as critical ratio, correlation analysis, internal consistency, split-half reliability, and exploratory factor analysis were used to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire.
Results The Cronbach's α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.859, with coefficients of 0.782, 0.713, and 0.861 for the knowledge, attitude, and practice dimensions, respectively. The split-half reliability coefficients were 0.733 and 0.840. The KMO statistic was 0.863, and the principal component analysis combined with the scree plot yielded a formal questionnaire with 15 items in 3 factors, contributing 56.960% of the total variance. The correlation coefficients between each dimension and the total score of the scale ranged from 0.752 to 0.918, all > 0.700.
Conclusion The questionnaire designed by the researchers has good reliability and validity and is easy to administer. It can be used as a research tool to investigate and evaluate the KAP of medical staff on clinical nutrition.
