Abstract:
Objective: To compare endotoxin content between Gram negative bacteria and their L-forms.
Methods: The endotoxin content was detected by qualitative and quantitative limulus tests in
E.coli and
P.aeruginosa and their stable L-forms.
Results: The qualitative limulus tests of Gram negative bacterial L-forms were positive. The endotoxin content of
E.coli L-forms is 25.1% of their parental bacteria,and
P.aeruginosa L-forms was 36.4% of parental.
Conclusions: Gram negative bacterial L-forms generate less endotoxin.
