Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the application value of the Intelligent Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis (IQQA)–based practical teaching model in the renal tumor teaching during standardized training of urology residents.
Methods 80 urology residents undergoing standardized training in the Department of Urology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University between November 2022 and April 2025 were enrolled as participants. The participants were divided into two groups: the control group (n = 40), comprising residents admitted from November 2022 to January 2024 who received conventional teaching methods, and the experimental group (n = 40), consisting of residents admitted from February 2024 to April 2025 who underwent instruction using the IQQA-based practical teaching model. Teaching outcomes were assessed using a mixed-methods approach incorporating objective metrics (theoretical examinations and clinical case analyses) and subjective evaluations (questionnaire surveys on learning engagement and teaching satisfaction).
Results Residents in the experimental group achieved significantly higher scores than those in the control group in both theoretical examinations and clinical case analyses (P<0.01). The scores of internship motivation, verbal communication skills, understanding of renal tumor anatomy, clinical reasoning abilities, and overall teaching satisfaction in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05-P<0.01).
Conclusions The IQQA-based practical teaching model effectively addresses limitations inherent in traditional renal tumor education by transforming abstract two-dimensional imaging into tangible three-dimensional anatomical representations. This innovation enhances teaching efficiency and holds significant application value, warranting broader adoption in clinical teaching.
