Abstract:
Objective: To study the procedure and clinical effect of modified non-elongated cheiloplasty and modified Millard's operation for repair of bilateral cleft lips.
Methods: Fifty-four cases of bilateral cleft lips were treated by modified non-elongated cheiloplasty or by modified Millard's operation. The outcome was evaluated by the new standards.
Results: The results were good in 44.74% of the cases by modified non-elongated cheiloplasty and in 43.75% of the cases by modified Millard's operation.
Conclusions: Modified Millard's operation is more suitable for repair of incomplete bilateral cleft lips, while modified non-elongated cheiloplasty for other types of bilateral cleft lips.
