Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the oral health status of freshmen in a university and to provide scientific basis for oral health education.
Methods: One thousand two hundred and eighty-two Anhui freshmen in a certain university were examined of their oral health status according to the criterion issued by World Health Organization and the national oral health epidemiology survey protocol. The inspection items included dental caries,dental calculus,dental fluorosis,impacted teeth and maloeclusiom.
Results: The prevalence of caries was 29.5% and 11.6% of them had been treated. The incidence of dental calculus,dental fluorosis,impacted teeth and maloeclusiom was 21.6%,5.5%,23.9%,and 44.5%,respectively.
Conclusions: The oral health status of the freshmen is not good. It is necessary to strengthen the education of teeth protection in freshmen.
