Abstract:
Objective: To summerize the experience in treatment of severely brain injured patients in different stages.
Methods: Eighty-two patients with traumatic acute severe brain injuries treated in our hospital were retrospectively studied.Among them,61 patients underwent early prompt craniotomy,47 patients resorted to the respirator,75 patients received hypothermia treatment and 76 patients were performed tracheotomy.
Results: The results were good in 35 patients,medium nerve function defects occurred in 14 patients,serious nerve function defects in 3 patients,24 patients died,and 6 patients were in vegetative state.The hospital stay tasted for 1 to 84 days.
Conclusions: Standard protocol and consummate monitoring are the key to improving the healing rate in severely brain-injured patients.
