Abstract:
Objective: To improve the surgical result in treatment of subdural effusion in children.
Methods: The clinical data of 42 patients with subdural effusion from Jan.1990 to Jan.2004 were analyzed retrospectively,36 of whom received surgical treatment.Repeated tapping was performed in 16 cases,persistent drainage in 12 cases,drainage followed by craniotomy in 4 cases and drainage followed by shunt in 4 cases.
Results: Among the 36 cases,25 cases were cured,7 cases were improved and 4 cases failed to respond.
Conclusions: The choice of treatment depends on the difference of subdural effusion in children.
