Abstract:
Objective: To evaluate the effect of ω-3 fatty acids(PUFA) supplemented total parenteral nutrition(TPN) support on critical patients with closed abdominal injury.
Methods: Twenty three critical patients which were diagnosed with systemic inflammation response syndrome(SIRS) with closed abdominal injury were randomly divided into PUFA group and control group. All patients were treated with routine treatment combined with TPN for 5 days. The parameters including blood routine test, hepatic and renal functions indexes and serum C-reactive protein were measured one day before TPN and at the end of the fifth day.Acute physiology and chronic health evaluationⅡ(APACHEⅡ) was also analyzed.
Results: The level of serum C-reactive protein and the scores of APACHE Ⅱ were decreased significantly in these two groups, while the level of platelet and albumin were increased significantly(
P<0.01).The changes of these parameters in PUFA group were more obvious than those in control group(P< 0.05).
Conclusions: ω-3 fatty acids supplemented TPN can inhibit the degree of acute inflammatory response of critical patients with closed abdominal injury and improve the prognosis.
