Abstract:
Objective: To explore the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and its relationship with progression of human brain glioma.
Methods: VEGF protein was detected by immunohistochemistry in 60 cases of glioma and 10 cases of normal brain tissues.Nucleic acid hybridization in situ was used to examine the expression of VEGF mRNA in the tissues.
Results: The positive expression of VEGF protein and VEGF mRNA increased significantly with the pathological grades of glioma(
P<0.01).There was no expression in the normal human brain.
Conclusions: The high expression of VEGF is obviously related to the progression of human glioma.VEGF may contribute to the progression of human glioma by playing a part in the formation of angiogenesis.
