Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the significance of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and estrogen receptor (ER) expressions in papillary thyroid carcinoma, thyroid follicular adenoma and adjacent normal tissues, further to study the clinical significance of these two markers in treatment strategies of thyroid carcinoma and estimating prognosis.
Methods:Thirty papillary thyroid carcinomas tissues,30 thyroid follicular adenomas tissues and 30 adjacent normal tissues were collected.Immunohistochemical S-P method was used to detect the expressions of VEGF and ER.
Results:The expressions of VEGF and ER in papillary thyroid carcinoma and thyroid follicular adenoma both had significant differences, and both of them were higher than that in adjacent normal tissues (
P<0.05).The positive rate of VEGF and ER expressions in papillary thyroid carcinoma had the negative correlation (
P<0.05).
Conclusions:The expressions of VEGF and ER could be as diagnostic indexes for papillary thyroid carcinoma. They also could be as the important indexes for evaluating the biological characteristics of papillary thyroid carcinoma and thyroid follicular adenoma and had the significant guiding role for clinical treatment and prognostic analysis.
