Abstract:
Objective: To evaluate spiral CT in the diagnosis of non-metal foreign bodies in trachea or bronchus in children.
Methods: Twenty-three children suspected foreign bodies in trachea or bronchus were all checked by spiral CT combinated with multiplannar reconstruction(MPR),shaded surface display(SSD),and virtual bronchoscopy(CTVB),compared with the clinical data and fiberoptic bronchoscopic findings.
Results: Spiral CT displayed directely all tracheobronchial foreign bodies, and showed endobronchial stenosis and occlusion,of these pulmonary emphysema in 11 children, atelectasis in 1 child, mediastinal double-side image in 10 children, pheumonia in 4 children,no foreign body in 8 child. The detective rate and accurate rate of spiral CT was 100% and 95.65% respectively.
Conclusions: Spiral CT could direct display tracheobronchial Non-metal foreign bodies, and play an important role in fetching foreign bodies with fiberoptic bronchoscopy.
