Abstract:
Objective:To explore the current status of internet addiction and addiction tendencies of junior college students,and to study the status of their mental health and the coping styles,so as to provide the basis for the early intervention for junior college students.Methods:Using stratified cluster random sampling method,190 college students of Anhui province were investigated with CIAS-R,Symptom Check Scale List-90andTrait Coping Style Questionnaire.Results:Among all students surveyed 5.3% of internet users were diagnosed with internet addiction,including 8.1% male students and 3.9% female students.There was no significant difference between them(P>0.05).It was higher in sophomores(8.9%) than in freshmen(1.1%) (P<0.05).The prevalence rate of internet addiction tendencies was 16.8%,including 19.4% male students and 15.6% female students.There was no significant difference between them (P>0.05).There was 19.8% of sophomores,compared with 13.5% of freshmen with no significance between them(P>0.05).Internet addiction groupand addiction tendency group,compared with normal grouphad significant differences in the total scores of all factors of SCL-90(P<0.01).There were significant differences in the negative coping style between internet addiction groupand normal group(P<0.01).positive coping style of these groups had no statistical difference (P>0.05).Conclusions:internet addiction and addiction tendencies among junior college students have lower mental health and tend to use the negative style.
