Abstract:
Objective:To study the effect of simvastatin combined with aspirin on recurrence of cerebral infarction with carotid atherosclerosis. Methods:Sixty two cerebral infarction cases associated with carotid atherosclerosis were randomly divided into two groups after discharged, the patients in treatment group were given oral aspirin and simvastatin, and others in control group were given oral aspirin only,at the same time, all cases in both groups were taken blood-activating and stasis-dissolving drugs. The recurrence of cerebral infarction and incidence of adverse reactions within 2 years were analyzed between the two groups. Results:The recurrence rate of cerebral infarction in treatment group(6.25%) and in control group(30.00%) was significantly different(P0.05),and there was no statistical difference about gastrointestinal tract and liver side effects. Two years after discharged, there were statistical differences about blood lipid of levels, area of carotid arterial plaque and intima media thickness between the two groups(P0.01).Conclusions:Simvastatin combined with aspirin presents plays the exact clinical effect on prevention recurrence of cerebral infarction with carotid atherosclerosis, and this combination do not increase the incidence of adverse reactions.
