Abstract:
Objective:To investigate whether chronic exposure to extremely low frequency magnetic field(ELF-MF)(50 Hz) can influence olfactory discrimination in mice. Methods:A habituation-dishabituation pattern was used to study olfatory discrimination in mice following exposure to 50 Hz magnetic field of 1 mT(1 hour/day) for 20 days. The motor behavior(locomotion)and exploring behavior were detected by open field test. Results:After exposure to 50 Hz magnetic field of 1 mT(1 hour/day) for 20 days, there were no significant differences about motor behavior(locomotion),exploring behavior and olfactory discrimination in mice. Conclusions:Exposure to chronic ELF-MF has no effect on olfactory discrimination in mice.
