Abstract:
Objective: To evaluate the effect of phacoemulsfication and intraocular lens implantation on axial high myopic patients combined with cataract.Methods:Twenty-two patients (38 eyes) with axial high myopia complicated by cataract received phacoemulsfication and implantation of intraocular soft lens under topical anesthesia. The preoperative corrected visual acuity and axial length were recorded; the pain during operation, postoperative effect and complication, and the diopter and expectancy bias of diopter were observed. Results:The preoperative axial length was 26.11 ~ 31.28 mm and the intraocular lens degree was 0D ~ + 15D.During the operation,34 eyes felt no pain,4 eyes a little distending pain and 2 eyes had posterior capsule rupture.Three months after the operation,19 eyes reached a corrected visual acuity of 0.1 ~ 0.4 and 18 eyes more than 0.5.Conclusions:Phacoemulsfication along with intraocular lens implantation under topical anesthesia is a safe and effective procedure for improving the visual acuity of patients with axial high myopia combined with cataract.
