Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the expressions of Twist protein (Twist) ,signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) ,epithelial mesenchymal transition related factor (E-cad) in gastric cancer tissue and peritumoral tissue, analyze their correlations and explore their significance in judging the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer. Methods: The expressions of Twist, STAT3 and E-cad in gastric cancer tissue and peritumoral tissue were detected by immunohistochemistry streptavidin-biotin complex (SABC) , their relationships with age, gender, histological type of tumor, metastasis and TNM stage of patient were analysed. results: The positive rate of Twist,STAT3 and E-cad in gastric cancer tissue were 57. 3%, 64. 7% and 12. 0%, respectively. The positive rate of Twist,STAT3 and E-cad in peritumoral tissue were 17. 3%, 10. 8% and 68. 0%, the expression differences of which were not statistical significance(P < 0. 01) . The differences of Twist expression in different tumor metastasis, lymph node metastasis,TNM staging and depth of invasion were statistical significance(P < 0. 05-P < 0. 01) . There was statistically significant in the expression of STAT3 between node metastasis, depth of invasion and TNM stage(P < 0. 05-P < 0. 01) . They were negative correlation in Twist and STAT3 expressions and E-cad expression(P < 0. 01) . Conclusions: The expressions of Twist and SATA in gastric cancer tissue have a certain relationship with tumor biological characteristics, the expression of SATA3 may activate the expression of Twist and E-cad. The detection of Twist,STAT3 and E-cad can predict the tumor invasion, metastasis and prognosis of patient.
