Abstract:
Objective: To evaluate the efficiency and radioreactions of routine radiotherapy,3-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT)of late half course and 3DCRT in esophageal cancer. Methods: Fifty patients with esophageal cancer were divided into three groups.Thirteen cases were treated with routine radiotherapy, 17 cases were treated with routine radiotherapy combined with 3DCRT of late half course and 20 cases were treated with 3DCRT.The prescribed and fractionation dose were from 50 to 70 Gy and 2 Gy a time with once a day(5 times a week), respectively. Results: The effective rates of routine radiotherapy,3DCRT of late half course and 3DCRT were 76.9%, 88.2% and 95.0%, respectively, which differences were not statistically significant(P > 0.05).The local control and survival rates of 1-year of routine radiotherapy,3DCRT of late half course and 3DCRT group were 53.8%,88.2%,90.0% and 53.8%, 94.1%, 90.0%, respectively, which differences were statistically significant(P<0.05 and P<0.01).Conclusions: 3DCRT is effective and safe in the treatment of esophageal cancer. The prognosis and acute radiation injury of 3DCRT of late half course and 3DCRT are better and lighter than that of routine radiotherapy group.
