Abstract:
Objective:To observe the curative effect of noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV) in treatment of acute cardiogenic pulmonary edema.
Methods:Twenty-six patients with acute respiratory failure due to acute cardiogenic pulmonary edema were treated by NPPV.The variation of heart rate and percutaneous oxygen saturation were observed;the blood gas analysis was compared before treatment and 2 hours after treatment.
Results:The symptoms of the patients were significantly alleviated including hypoxia, heart palpitations, breathing difficulties and cyanosis, and the NYHA decreased significantly.
Conclusions:NPPV has therapeutic advantages and significant effect in treatment of acute respiratory failure due to acute cardiogenic pulmonary edema.
