Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the clinical outcomes of treatment of comminuted intra-articular fractures of distal radius with T shape locking compression plate.
Methods: Seventeen patients with distal radial fractures underwent open reduction and internal fixation with T shape locking compression plates and did early functional exercises postoperatively.
Results: All the patients were followed up for 7 to 15 months with an average of 10 months.Union was obtained in all the patients. The clinical outcomes was evaluated according to Dinest grading.Fourteen patients were graded as excellent and two as good. One complication was found. The overall satisfactory rate was 94%.
Conclusions: T shape locking compression plate has been proved as a safe and effective implant for treatment of fracture of the distal ridius, especially for the patients with osteoporosis and unstable fractures of the distal radius, wherein it can firmly maintain the reduction of fracture and facilitate early postoperative rehabilitation.
