Abstract:
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of ureteroscopic holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy for managing ureteral calculi.
Methods: Ureteroscopic holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy was used in 252 patients with ureteral calculi(proximal in 36 patients, middle in 86 and distal in 130 patients).
Results: The stone-free rate was 88 in the patients with proximal ureteral calculi,91 in those with middle ureteral calculi and 95 in those with distal ureteral calculi respectively. The complications occurreded in 5.9(15/252) during and after the operation.
Conclusions: Ureteroscopic holmimium:YAG laser lithotripsy is a highly effective and safe method for managing ureteral calculi.
