Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the cause of residual gallstones after cholecystectomy as well as the prevention and treatment method.
Methods: Fourteen patients with residual stone after cholecystectomy were retrospectively reviewed.
Results: The missed diagnosis of gallstone before operation was found in 12 patients and the iatrogenic residual stone was found in two patients.
Conclusions: Patients must be examined carefully before operation and several methods of exploration of common bile duct can avoid secondary operation.
