Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the therapeutic efficacy of triamcinolone injection through peripheral nerve trunk on trigeminal neuralgia.
Methods: Eighty-six cases suffering from trigeminal neuralgia were injected triamcinolone through the peripheral nerve trunk in foramen rotundun and foramen ovale once a week for five weeks.
Results: The pain disappeared in 70 cases and was relived in 14 cases after treatment.The remission rate was 97.6%.Seventy cases were followed up for one year,and 6 cases recurred,with a recurrence rate of 8.6%;sixty cases were followed for three-years and 18 cases recurred,with a recurrence rate of 30%.
Conclusions: The therapy of triamcinolone is simple,safe and effective for treatment of trigenminal neuraligia.
