Abstract:
Objective: To summarize the experience in treating patients with severe craniocerebral injury.
Methods: A total of 120 patients with severe craniocerebral injury(GCS<8) treated at our department from July 1997 to July 2005 were retrospectively analyzed.Among these patients,56 underwent operations while 64 were conservatively treated.
Results: According to Glasgow outcome score(GOS),24 patients had good results,17 patients had medium nerve function defect,39 patients had serious nerve function defect,38 patients died, and 2 patients were in vegetative state.
Conclusions: The prognosis can be improved and the mortality can be decreased if the standardize treatment of patients with severe craniocerebral injury is reinforced.
