Abstract:
Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of high dose of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) in treatment of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS).
Methods: Eleven patients with GBS were treated with IVIG in a dose of 0.4 g·kg
-1·d
-1for 5 consecutive days, and the other 16 patients were treated with steroid. The therapeutic effect was compared.
Results: The IVIG-treated group was superior to the steroid-treated group in cynical grading scale and time of response(
P<0.05 and
P<0.001),but there was no significant difference in the total effective rate.
Conclusions: Treatment of Guilian-Barre syndrome with high dose of IVIG is superior to that with steroid in clinical grading scale and time of response.
