Abstract:
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of recombinant human growth hormone in the treatment of growth disorders in children with nephrotic syndrome.
Methods 40 children with nephrotic syndrome complicated with growth disorders were selected as the research subjects. According to different treatment plans, they were divided into an observation group (n=13) and a control group (n=27). Both groups of children were treated with routine oral prednisone tablets. The observation group received subcutaneous injection of recombinant human growth hormone at 0.15 IU/kg every night before bedtime for 12 months in addition to routine treatment. The clinical efficacy of the two groups of children was compared.
Results The height standard deviation score (HtSDS), insulin-like serum growth factor 1 (IGF-1), and insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 (IGFBP-3) of the observation group and control group after treatment were all higher than before treatment (P<0.05); After treatment, the observation group showed higher levels of HtSDS, growth rate (GV), IGF-1, and IGFBP-3 than the control group (P<0.05 ~ P<0.01). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05).
Conclusions Recombinant human growth hormone can safely and effectively improve the growth and development of children with nephrotic syndrome complicated with growth disorders.
