Abstract:
Objective: To observe the effect of interlocking intramedullary nailing in the treatment of multiple fractures of the tibia.
Methods: Twelve cases of tibia fracture treated by static locked intramedullary nailing and limited reaming were reviewed.Static interlocked nailing was applied to all cases at first.
Results: All the cases were followed up for an average of 10.3 months and the fractures healed.The mean recovery time was 3.6 months.The function of the knees and ankle joints recovered normal or almost normal.
Conclusions: The application of interlocking intramedullary nailing is effective in the treatment of tibia fracture.It has the advantages of stronger fixation,earlier motion and better revovery of the joints.
