Abstract:
Objective: To discuss a method to deal with postoperative complications in breast augmentation by injecting polyacrylamide hydrogel(PAHG).
Methods: Thirteen patients with complications due to breast augmentation by injecting PAHG were treated by incising the gel, some infiltrated gland and muscle, and by washing the capsular space repeatedly with normal saline and suction alternatively.
Results: All the symptoms such as spargosis, dissatisfactory contour, callosity and poor elasticity of the breast were improved after removal of the polyacrylamide hydrogel. The wound healed well.
Conclusions: Most of the injected augmentation material(PAHG) can be removed via in-framammary incision. The in-framammary approach is effective for management of complications in breast augmentation.
